An interesting conversation with Joe Rogan and David Sinclair about reversing aging

I recently listened to the Joe Rogan Experience podcast #1234. Interviewing with David Sinclair on the topic of reversing aging , PhD, professor at the Department of Genetics at Harvard (and much more). This was very interesting and gave me some new things to explore. I must say I'm surprised not to have heard of David Sinclair until now.

I've been interested in research into Longevity, gerontology and centenarian studies for a while now. Some of the ideas are in line with the research of Valter Longo (author of the Longevity diet). David mentions, caloric restriction, intermittent fasting, genes involved in aging.

Even more interesting is the things he is doing as an N=1, for longevity. Among them are:
  • Intermittent fasting.
  • Metmorfin - A diabetes drug, that has effects on AMPK(Adenosine Monophosphate-activated Protein Kinase - Activates glucose and fatty acid metabolism) and MTOR(Mammalian Target of Rapamycin - regulator of metabolism and growth)
  • MNM (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) - A precursor to NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide - A cofactor found in all living cells).
  • Resveratrol - A natural phenol that is produced, as a hormetic effect, as a response to injury or, when the plant is under attack by pathogens such as bacteria or fungi.
They go into many discussions on lifestyle, genetics, epigenetics, the future and much more...
